..is usually described as a dedicated area of a house, such as a basement, workshop, or garage, where a man can be alone or socialize with his friends.

but some psychologists also describe it as a figurative cave that a man retracts to in his mind when he's spending extra time in thought or going through some kind of transitional period in his life.
